FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF

FOR YOUR INFO IF YOU CAN'T READ THE LAST CARTOON; IT SAYS:

"WHO NEEDS IT?"

EDUCATION IS TOO IMPORTANT TO LEAVE TO THE EDUCATORS.

You might be interested in 4 generations in our family who quit lower school in the United States because they were learning next to nothing!

PUTTING THE EDUCATORS IN CHARGE OF EDUCATION IS THE SAME AS THE INMATES VOTING FOR A WARDEN!

AN INCREDIBLE ADDENDUM TO THIS ARTICLE ALL ON INFORMATION ABOUT NEW YORK TEACHERS THAT HAS COME OUT THIS PAST WEEK: and IF YOU THINK IT IS CONFINED TO NY THINK AGAIN!

THE EDUCATORS UNION ONLY WANTS THREE THINGS: MORE MONEY & PERKS, LESS WORK AND LESS RESPONSIBILITY.

All the above quotes are from my Gubernertorial campaign in 1990 in the state of New York.

I do not know if you read the results of our very recent international competition in mathematics and science.

Does it surprise you that our students came out close to the very bottom of the scoring and rankings?

As one woman wrote the New York Times yesterday:

"Why don't we go for last?"

1. THE TEACHERS UNION

The Teachers Union has managed to strip the American educational system of everything that is moral, religious and ethical. It is the nations foremost advocate of:

IN SHORT, THE PARENTS AND THE NATION HAVE TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF WHAT OUR CHILDREN ARE BEING TAUGHT, AT ALL LEVELS!

CHILDREN ARE BEING TAUGHT WHAT THE TEACHERS WANT TO TEACH THEM, NO MORE AND NO LESS!

2. HISTORY OF THE TEACHERS UNION

The fundamental characteristic of the Teachers Union is LIBERALISM. It's roots are left wing and socialism. It has always but always stood mainly for the minority groups, the disenfranchised and the underprivileged.

The mainstream of America has been and is poorly represented in the Teachers Union. In actual fact the history of the philosophy of John Dewey, the mentor and philosophical guru of the Teachers Union was in opposition to historic family values! The minority, disenfranchised and the labor movement are all extremely well represented

The entire philosophy of John Dewey was a revolution against historic American family values! He rejected historic American family values and introduced the idea of self determination at lower school levels. He believed that a child should make their own decisions regarding their education..

THE PATRON SAINT OF THE TEACHERS UNION WAS JOHN DEWEY AND THE ARCHANGEL WAS DR. BENJAMIN SPOCK WHO WAS A DEWEY DISCIPLE.

You can find a John Dewey INTERNET page here:

http://www.siu.edu/~deweyctr/index2.html

"Spock claimed that his more liberal views on child rearing developed partly in reaction to
his mother's harsh, Victorian ideas.
He grew up in New Haven, Conn., and attended Yale. As part of the Yale rowing crew,
Spock won an Olympic gold medal at the 1924 Games in Paris. He received his medical
degree from Columbia University, married Jane Cheney in 1927 and had two sons.
In 1975, they were divorced, and he married Mary Morgan, 40 years his junior, the
following year.

He became a socialist, and ran for president on the People's Party ticket in 1972."

Source: http://www.detnews.com/1998/accent/9803/17/03170019.htm

Both Dewey and Spock were reformers; both rebelling against the discipline imposed by their culture and their parents. Both espoused individual freedom and decision making at all ages and above all else for education and for schooling.

Dewey was the God of the Teachers Union and Spock was the Archangel.

What, then, is the heritage of the Teachers Union?

The heritage of the Teachers Union is that discipline has no place in education and that parents, therefore, are not part of the education process.

Why would the Teachers Union advocate these policies of John Dewey and Benjamin Spock? for a variety of reasons:

3.NANTUCKET

Our school system here in Nantucket is a perfect example of what is wrong with the entire educational system in the United States.

  1. For the past four years in a row the SAT scores of the High School students have gone down each and every year.
  2. While the High School SAT scores here in Nantucket have been going down the scores throughout the U.S. have climbed a bit (not much but not down, 1010 in 1995 and 1013 in 1996).
  3. It is claimed that the Superintendent of Schools here was thrown out of his last job but he contends he resigned on his own. The Town refuses to investigate or to answer the unproved allegations!
  4. All the emphasis that I see is on SPORTS, be it football, swimming or hockey! I have never as a resident of the town seen any material attention whatsoever of any kind on grades and scholastic performance! And what emphasis there may be on academic achievement is ludicrous for the reason that next to nothing achievement is praised to the sky!
  5. There is one "Official" excuse after another about the poor performance of the students and most of them end up at second/third rate "higher education" schools.
  6. The school officials also lie and mislead about the academic performance of the children.
  7. The teachers spend all kinds of money on sports for which there is little if any accounting.
  8. People who have children of education age are leaving the town for the simple fact that the education stinks. Yes, stinks!
  9. Rival private schools are developing and the local Montessori school has a backlog of applicants for years ahead!
  10. The system is a joke and a travesty on the children.
  11. In the end it is the children who are being short changed by the so-called educators, many of whom are as ignorant as they come (this comment comes from personal experience)!

4.THE DROP OFF.

The primary responsibility for the rotten lower school education our children are receiving belongs to the parents. They, by and large, have abandoned their responsibilities to their children in favor of income and material well being. Most parents consider the school system to be a drop off for their children so that they, the parents, can both go to work. Lets face it; material possessions have become the goal of most Americans and in the process the children have been abandoned to day care centers and relatively unprofessional teachers. NO, a degree from some obscure University does not a teacher make.

If you study the behavior of nature in its many forms one of the first thing you learn about nature is that she always takes the easy way out. Deer walk the same path time and time again because it conserves energy. A hunting dog will always look for a path through the brush. Plants grow out into open, uninhabited spaces. Trees will not grow their branches where there are other ones already in place. Mankind emulates nature; the easy way out is preferred.

Nature always seeks the path of least resistance and the most economical in time and energy!

"The Laws of Nature are just, but terrible. There is no weak mercy in them. Cause and consequence are inseparable and inevitable. The elements have no forbearance. The fire burns, the water drowns, the air consumes, the earth buries. And perhaps it would be well for our race if the punishment of crimes against the Laws of Man were as inevitable as the punishment of crimes against the Laws of Nature-were Man as unerring in his judgments as Nature."

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-82), U.S. poet. Drift-Wood, "Table-Talk" (ed. 1857; repr. in Complete Works, vol. 1, 1886).The Columbia Dictionary of Quotations is licensed from Columbia University Press. Copyright © 1993 by Columbia University Press. All rights reserved.

American parents have taken the easy way out of bringing up their children: one, they are not being brought up but dragged up (how many unmanageable children have you witnessed in the stores) and two, they are letting others do it for them!

If the family has any family values how can a stranger impart those values to the child? Or, will the caretaker warden impart their own values to the child, which values may be totally alien to the family values?!

From my dear friend Anne Brandt I have learned that the concept of day care was first "invented " by the woman "Dr. Maria Montessori" and developed by her in order to educate the "little folks". If you are interested then go here:

http://www.Montessori.org/library/mariawho.htm

The absolutely and completely ultimate irony, of course, is that day care was a concept pushed and emphasized by the Communist and Nazi parties so that the STATE could control the mind set of the children! They turned the Montessori concept upside down and used it for state controls of their minds.

QUESTION:If the Nazi party as well as the Communist party could see that the Montessori concept of day care of the children could be used to control their minds what makes you or anyone think that the educators don't use the very same concept for THEIR CONCEPTIONS of life? END OF QUESTION.

The answer is, of course, that the educators DO use the day care centers to manage, to control, to imprint the minds of the children with their concepts of morality and their concepts of what is important!

If you want to know what has happened to morality in our country (Johnson, Nixon, Clinton) then just go look in great detail at how the minds of our children are now controlled by the day care centers!

ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION: what do they teach the children about morality and life? They teach them their concepts of life and the parents are both left holding the bag and ignorant to what and of what they have exposed their children!

And then parents wonder why their children do poorly in primary education! Or, don't they care or notice?

5.LIBERALISM.

The idea that a child knows enough to control his destiny is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever known. I say that knowing that I was a complete maverick but back then I knew that I had no idea of what life was all about!

The educational system has done away with every form of discipline that has always existed in education.

"True education makes for inequality; the inequality of individuality, the inequality of success, the glorious inequality of talent, of genius; for inequality, not mediocrity, individual superiority, not standardization, is the measure of the progress of the world."Felix E. Schelling (1858-1945), U.S. educator. Pedagogically Speaking, ch. 8 (1929).

ASIDE. I was behind a Nantucket school bus who went through a 4 way stop corner. I wrote the school board about what he had done. They sent me a non-response and pretty much ignored what I said and described. END OF ASIDE.

COMMENT:EDUCATORS AND THEIR MINIONS CAN DO NO WRONG AND WHO CARES ANYWAY?

The idea of allowing a child under the age of 18 to choose what they want to study is an insult to any intelligent and thoughtful human being.

It is obvious that the idiots who conceived that and pushed it into the lower school curriculum never studied biology or physics.

I guess that one of our entitlements in education is the right to destroy ourselves and to be totally and completely unprepared for life in the highest of high tech countries!

6.LANGUAGES.

In an international world (where English dominates but not everywhere or totally) we no longer teach another language and have not for decades!

All the other industrial nations in the world teach another language. The Germans speak English as a matter of course. Japanese students learn English, French and German to say nothing of Chinese and other languages including Italian!

The French, who hate almost everything American, nevertheless teach American English as well as English English.

The English teach all the major languages of the world. My Grandson has finally seen the light and wants to learn another language.

The Spanish teach English, French and German as well, naturally, as Portuguese.

It is not unusual for a Swiss to speak three or more languages!

I have had the pain of listening to otherwise well educated and smart Americans trying to speak French. It is the most pitiful thing you ever heard. It is both humiliating and embarrassing.

But what is even more pitiful is that the Blacks want to have the legal right to speak and use in public their own bastardized version of American English!

7.Teaching.

For the record: I taught for years at the New York University Graduate School of Business and the University of Virginia Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business.

Most teachers do not teach; they supervise a class room, more or less.

What has destroyed teaching at the lower levels in this marvelous country is the Teachers Union.

Samuel Gompers, the Trade Union patriarch, was once asked: "What is the objective of the trade unions?"

To which he answered:

"MORE".

Teachers do not teach, they do not challenge, they do not excite, they do not stretch the mind of their students.

They put in their time and want to get the devil out of the school as fast as they can.

The teachers have total and complete control of the schools because of the Unions and they will never give up that control. The control is for their own interests and not the interests of either the children or the parents.

My theory is that the weakening of rules and discipline was and is for the teachers since it makes their lives easier.

The emphasis on sports is a reflection of the inadequacy of the ability of the teachers and a clear cut indication of the stupidity of the educational system.

Teachers object to being graded.

Wouldn't you if you knew that you would fall short as did our students in Math and Science in the world competition?

It is more than obvious that we desperately need a new curriculum at the grammar and high school level and so I have written a draft of one. Just touch here for it:

8. CONCLUSIONS.

I can only tell you what my wife and I did. We could ill afford what we did but we did it anyway.

We took them out of American schools and educated them in France and Switzerland.

They both speak French fluently, my son does a good sized business in France and Switzerland and my daughter was the top dog in bond sales at JP Morgan before she quit to devote all her time to bringing up her son, Justin (who went from Eton to Stanford).

If you can't change something then get out.
