My father quit McGill University in his second year in Montreal because "They were not teaching me anything that I wanted to know or could use."
I hardly ever attended either Grammar or High School because of multiple reasons:
The truant officer and my mother got to know each other quite well and I made a deal with my mother that I would go to school whenever she asked me to in order to get the truant officer off her back.
My children revolted against education in the United States and so we educated them in Europe!
My Grandson last year quit one of the most prestigious Prepatory schools in the U.S. (Hotchkiss) because:
"They were not interested in education but just being able to get you into an ivy league school. It was a social life school and not a serious one.The teachers were terrible except for the history teacher and he was not that fabulous.
"BESIDES WHICH,THE TWO MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE STUDENTS WERE SEX AND DRUGS. I AM NOT INTO EITHER ONE AND WAS THEREFORE PRETTY MUCH ISOLATED."
My father ended up co-inventing the window air conditioning unit.
I went on to get 5 degrees at the University level as well as a Fulbright scholarship to France as well as other honors (see "BIO").
My children have done fabulously in life, my son has his own business and my daughter manages the family assets.
My Grandson graduated from Eton College in the UK and is now at Stanford University.
The moral of these tales of 4 generations?
